Yalda Night 2019

Yalda is the longest and darkest night of the year. In Iran, it is customary to gather with friends and family during Yalda night to eat specific Yalda dishes and read poetry well into the night. Red fruits such as pomegranates and watermelons are often eaten because their colors are reminiscent of the red tones of sunrise and the glow of life.
